Community-Wide Emergency Planning & Preparedness Day
By Karen Brown, Executive Director South Shuswap Chamber of Commerce
Community-Wide Emergency Planning & Preparedness Day is set for Saturday June 8, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Sorrento Community Hall, 1150 Passchendaele Road.
The Bush Creek Wildfires of last summer left our community feeling traumatized and unsafe. As we look to 2024 and beyond, many of us are feeling vulnerable as to what the future may hold.
To address this, the South Shuswap Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, Sorrento Community Hall, Shuswap Community Foundation and SASCU, will be presenting a community-wide Emergency Planning & Preparedness Open House in order to help residents and businesses in our community prepare for upcoming emergencies or disasters. There is no pre-registration required and it does not cost anything to attend this community event. On site at this event will be a number of organizations and emergency groups.
