It’s a Hard Habit to Break! - What is on everyone’s agenda for Spring? Those activities that are almost a habit?

Spring cleaning, yard clean-up, Easter celebration, early camping trips? There is one habit that you do not need to put off or overlook ……. The White Lake Fire Department Annual Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast. The 41st year of this event and it is still getting better. Just ask the folks who have been attending this event for many years and see it as a habit not to be broken! Who does not enjoy treating Mom to a day off with a great breakfast to start that special day? Come along to the White Lake Community Hall on Sunday, May 12, anytime between 0800 and 1100 to get the taste of great food, all prepared by those dedicated volunteer firefighters of the White Lake Community.

The preparations are already underway. Planning to feed between 300 and 400 guests at a fast pace with hot, freshly cooked sausage, bacon, eggs, and pancakes, plus providing plenty of coffee, tea and juice sounds pretty straight forward, but it does take a lot of planning. Although this is the 41st year, each annual event involves training up the newer members, who may be working the Breakfast for the first time and ensuring the ‘experienced Breakfast members’ have not forgotten their well-honed skills on the grill! Every firefighter knows the importance of the event as it is the main fundraiser of the year which allows the Department to support local students and initiatives for a better community.

Don’t forget that besides enjoying some great food and a chance to socialize with friends and neighbours, there are opportunities for kids to get photos with the firetruck, visit some excellent local crafters, enjoy a raffle full of great prizes donated by local businesses and most importantly, get to know your local firefighting crew. Maybe you are interested in becoming part of the Department? New members are always welcome and a search for new recruits is always a priority. There are opportunities to talk with the Fire Chief and his Deputy throughout the event if you have any questions regarding the Department and its operations.

Whatever your plans for Mom on the 12th of May, make sure you include a trip to beautiful White Lake and enjoy one of the best Pancake Breakfasts around. The Fire Department is counting on your support to help make this day special for Mom and to ensure the Fire Department remains a strong and important part of the Community for many years to come.
